>> ABOUT . . . ME . . . <<

Rodrigo Martínez is an artist working between Vienna and various international contexts, developing projects in theatre, performance, and cultural production. His practice is grounded in both stage creation and the operational dynamics of theatre, combining institutional work with independent production.

He currently works at the Burgtheater in Vienna as a lighting designer and programmer, participating in large-scale stage productions. In this context, he has collaborated as a lighting programmer on productions directed by Simon Stone and Therese Willstedt, as well as on choreographic work by Elisabeth Bakambamba within the framework of ImPulsTanz. In parallel, he maintains an independent practice as a creator, director, scenographer, and lighting designer in projects spanning theatre, dance, performance, and music.

His work has been presented in venues such as WUK, Odeon Theater, Schuberttheater, Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz, Zacherlfabrik, Anker Brotfabrik, Votivkirche, Technisches Museum Wien, and Brunnenpassage, and he has participated in the WIENWOCHE festival as well as developed projects in Mexico in collaboration with Teatro UNAM.

Since 2018, he has directed and produced the Circuito Latino festival in Vienna, a platform dedicated to the circulation of Latin American artistic practices in Europe, supported by the City of Vienna. In 2024, he was awarded the Dramatiker*innenstipendium by the Austrian government. His trajectory brings together technical expertise, production, and scenic creation, with a sustained focus on working within contemporary theatrical structures.
